Is the procedure painful?
No, the power required to have an effect is very low and the patient can only feel a bit of heat. Additionally, the fiber used may be 200 or 300 microns, which will not cause any physiological damage
Why use the laser in Periodontology?
At a certain wavelength, the laser light is optimally absorbed by haemoglobin, just needing very low power for the almost complete decontamination of the periodontal pocket. The laser also induces fibroblast proliferation which increases the recovery factors.
How long does the laser procedure last?
It depends on the area to be treated but normally a few seconds is all that is needed for a rapid transition to decontaminate the pocket
