What is laser lipolysis?

Laser lipolysis or assisted laser lipolysis is a new minimally invasive technique developed to remove adipose tissue due to selective interaction between the laser beam and adipose cells.

What areas can be treated?

The areas that can be treated are: waist, chin, inner/outer thigh, hips, buttocks, arms, face, male breast (gynaecomastia), back of the neck.

What is the treatment?

The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia in day hospital. It is performed through the minimally invasive use of the laser with the optical fiber. In addition to removing adipose pads, it improves areas that have already been treated with previous conventional liposuction. Therefore the adipose cell membrane ruptures and spills its contents, which are consequently removed via natural pathways. At the same time, small blood vessels are coagulated to therefore reduce blood loss for the selective photocoagulation effect that is induced by laser light. It is also possible to perform dermal collagen photostimulation on the surface with a retracting effect on loose skin tissue. Cannulas used in laser lipolysis are a very thin size in mm and stitches are not needed at the end of treatment.

What are the advantages?

  • Reduced blood loss: simultaneous suction with blood vessel coagulation.
  • Highly resistant fat emulsion.
  • Considerable reduction in haematomas and oedemas post-treatment.
  • Possibility of repeating the treatment on the same area of the body after a few months.
  • Short recovery time.
  • Fast, safe technique showing excellent skin retraction and an immediate lifting effect due to the selective photothermal effect achieved by the laser at a subcutaneous level.
  • Possibility of also operating on areas that, until now, were considered unsuitable for conventional liposuction treatment, such as arms (inner and outer), upper part of the abdomen, ankles and double chin.

Is it a safe method?

Yes, because laser lipolysis only affects fat cells and reduces blood loss by coagulating small blood vessels, without causing damage to nerves and surrounding tissue.

How many treatments are needed?

Only one session is needed for small localised areas whereas it is possible to repeat the treatment on larger areas until achieving the result that was agreed on with the specialist.

How can we improve the results?

A successful aid in reducing recovery time and enhancing the obtained results is lymphatic drainage massage, which can be performed both manually and with the use of various non-invasive technologies (radiofrequency, cavitation, etc.).

How soon after will we see results?

We start to see slight results a few days after treatment, with a gradual improvement continuing up to two months after surgery.

Are the results permanent?

Yes, combined with a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
