Hyperhidrosis

The definitive treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis destroys the sweat glands by means of the photoselective effect of an optical fiber that emits 1470 nanometers laser pulses through a surgical microcannula. Compared to botulinum toxin, the surgical optical fiber diode laser treatment (LASEmaR® 1500) solves the problem permanently.

Treatment candidates are subjects who, sweat excessively at the axillary level due to different types of stimuli - heat, emotions or unknown.
Before treatment, the so-called Minor Test can be performed, which highlights the areas affected by sweating and the relative amounts. Laser treatment is always performed under local anaesthesia and lasts about 15 minutes per armpit. A microcannula containing the optical fiber is inserted under the skin through a small incision and is put in contact with the sweat glands leading to their destruction.

Ecchymosis and swelling of the treated areas may occur in the days following the procedure. The effect of the procedure is permanent, the complete disappearance of sweating cannot be guaranteed because the destruction of all the glands cannot be checked during surgery. The Minor Test can be repeated 7 days post surgery, which will to identify the remaining areas to be treated and a subsequent laser assisted procedure can then be performed.
